About Us

Swindon Academy of Dance was founded by Sarah Watson in 1989 and is now one of the leading dance schools in the country. 

We offer the highest standard of teaching in all aspects of dance, singing and acro in a warm, friendly, safe and professional environment. The strength of this approach is reflected in our excellent examination and competition results and record of success in the profession.

We offer weekly classes to children from the age of 2 and a half to 19 years.

As an ISTD approved dance center we also offer teacher training for DDE qualifications.

A happy and caring environment

We appreciate that children take up dance or singing classes as their hobby and we feel that their happiness is of primary importance.

To this end, we endeavour to create a happy and caring environment, which in turn, provides a sound foundation for their social development and encourages growth in self-confidence.

A place to pursue a career in dance

Equally important, for those who might want to pursue a career in dance and musical theatre, we have the expertise to provide them with the best possible training.

Exams and festivals

Pupils are encouraged to sit examinations in key subjects on a yearly basis. About a quarter participate in major dance festivals around the country including the prestigious All England Dance Finals and Dance World Cup. Click here to see some of our pupils performing at festivals.

Inspiring studios

The main school is housed in Wilkes Academy Studios. It offers some of the best facilities anywhere in the country, with fully equipped studios and professional dance flooring.

We also hold classes at Badbury Park School and the Haydon Centre.

The bi-annual school show

The quality and achievements of the school are showcased at our bi-annual show where all our pupils get a chance to perform to a capacity audience at the fabulous Wyvern Theatre.
